New Truck Drivers Beware

I started and drove for a company out of Amherst, WI. It took a few years for me to figure out why I shouldn't have stayed as long as I did.

What I want is to let other new drivers know that they don't have to go through what I did to learn, you can do better sooner than you think.

Companies use new drivers by telling them they are not going to make money off them anytime soon because of the cost of training and then putting them on the road in their own truck...Look out driver...They are going to push you so you get the miles making you think you are doing great out there..Then you are going to find out that you are not going to get home when you think you are or should be..

If you are thing of going with a company that brakes up their pay scale by 1/2 cent pay increases as your time with them adds up. I say Look out driver...If they have a high turn over rate...Like the company I drove for..200/300 drivers per year...Driver look out...

Help me IDENTIFY these companies and when they can't find drivers to do this to. They will have to change their ways of treating new drivers and the drivers that are there now..Maybe we as a group can make changes..I have never seen only one person make a difference...

One more thought is: Don't drive for a company that has only one terminal that is 2 or 3 states away from where you live. Remember : If you quit, you have to drop the truck at their terminal or they can charge you up to and maybe more than 500 dollars for not dropping it there.

Hope to hear from more drivers...Lets make a difference or at least try..

Be safe
